A Smile of Satisfaction

A Smile of Satisfaction
Finishing a Book

There are few things more satisfying to a writer than scribbling the last few words of a book. I have published many books over the years and that feeling of “I finished it,” followed by a smile of satisfaction when I hit the “Save,” button.

My latest one will probably be titled “The First 13,” or some variance. It is about 500 pages and includes histories of the first 13 states up until 1753, the year the French and Indian War started.

It will be part of my United States History Series, the second book. The first book, Democracy in America – The Early Documents. That book includes most of the early documents pertaining to the evolution of democracy in what would become the United States. Colonial officials had to learn how to govern themselves because of the time and distance the colonies were from England. From the very beginning in 1620 with the drafting of the Mayflower compact, the need for self government was apparent.

I still have to edit the book, format it and design a cover, so it will be a month or so before it will be available.

It is time to roll up my sleeves and start the next book.
