The Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is a suitable memorial to the Sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln spent his boyhood years on Spencer County and grew up in the land around the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial and Lincoln State Park.
The Memorial includes:
Visitor Center
Cabin Site Memorial
Nancy Hanks Grave
Trail of Twelve Stones

Visitor Center
The visitor center has a wealth of information about Abraham Lincoln as a boy, artifacts and other memorabilia. The Memorial includes the Abraham Lincoln Hall, where meetings, weddings and special events. The Memorial also includes a replica of the interior of a typical pioneer cabin. Visitors may park in the parking lot and hike to the Lincoln Living Historical Farm or take the drive to it. Along the level, paved trail the visitor will pass the cemetery that contains the remains of Nancy Hanks Lincoln, the Trail of 12 Stones, the Tom Lincoln Cabin Site and the Lincoln Living Historical Farm.
Nancy Hanks Grave
The Alee is a tree-lined walkway that leads to the Pioneer Cemetery and Nancy Hank’s grave. Nancy Hanks Lincoln, Abraham’s mother, died of milk sickness while Abraham was a boy. Her grave is in the cemetery.
Cabin Site Memorial
Just past the Pioneer Cemetery, visitors will find the Cabin Site Memorial. Archeologists have uncovered the foundation and chimney of the Thomas Lincoln cabin, where Abraham grew up. The site has been preserved. Bronze castings were taken of the original sill logs and the fireplace and displayed on the site. The sill log castings outline the original location of the cabin.
Lincoln Living Historical Farm
During the summer months, visitors may see Park rangers dressed in period costume performing the day-to-day chores as people did them when Lincoln was a boy here. The crops grown include the crops and herbs grown on a farm during this early period of Indiana’s history. The crops are planted, maintained and harvested according to methods used in the 19th Century. Split rail fences resembling those which Lincoln split the rails and built the fences line the fields.

Trail of Twelve Stones
The trail consists of twelve stones taken from sites that were important events during Lincoln’s lifetime. From the stone chimney of the cabin of his birthplace in Kentucky to a stone from his grave in Illinois, visitors may relive Lincoln’s life from the story told by these stones.
