One Book Leads to Another

One Book Leads to Another
Frequently, as I am writing one book, another book suggests itself. A book that I was working on recently, a book on the native tribes inhabiting Indiana at the beginning of the War of 1812, it occurred to me to that this was really several books. I had started out writing about the Algonquin family of tribes that all of the tribes in Indiana belonged to. This book reached about 150 – 200 pages. I started working on one of the tribes, the Lenape, or Delaware, as a subsection of the book and this book reached over 100 pages and I was not anywhere near done yet. There would be five or six other tribes to deal with. Since I like to keep my books about 150 – 200 pages long, I realized I had four, maybe five books to write.
The original book about the native tribes had its origins in another book I had started which would cover the cities and towns that existed in Indiana at the beginning of the War of 1812. In my searching of the Internet, I kept coming across references to Amerindian villages. Intrigued, I did a couple of searches and found several articles about native villages. Since over 2/3 of Indiana was still inhabited by the Lenape, Shawnee, Pottawatomie and other tribes, I decided that a short dip into the tribes that inhabited the future state of Indiana was in order. This “short dip,” has turned into five, maybe six books.
As this happens quite frequently, you should see the size of my “future project,” list.

At this link you will find all of my books on Indiana, United States history, gardening, and yes, a little fiction.
