Indiana Photo Gallery – Waapaahsiki Siipiiwi Mound Historical Park

Waapaahsiki Siipiiwi Mound Historical Park
The park is open from dawn to dusk. Archaeological research indicates that the site was built during the late Woodland Period which was from 500 AD to 1500 AD. The site was probably used for burial and ceremonial purposes.
There are two mounds here and some interesting chain saw carvings. These include a totem pole, a bear, eagle and some other things. It would be a nice, quiet place for a picnic and to reflect on the people that used the area.
The park is near Shakamak State Park.
